Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Tonite Gonzalez-Collins is an Mexican American journalist. Her current job is with ESPN as a reporter for SportsCenter and occasionally host SportsNation. She was hired by ESPN in 2016. She is the daughter television journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is bi-lingual and has been since her age of nine. Her ability in this area helped her to get her first job at Univision, Miami. She could work alongside national producers on shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. Then she was promoted to an reporter at the CBS St. Petersburg affiliate in the following year. In 2009, she relocated to Texas into Rio Grande Valley where she became a news correspondent for KNVO TV 48 Univision. In addition to reporting on issues related to trafficking in drugs and immigration on both sides of Mexico-Texas border, she was a reporter for newscasts at 5 p.m. Spanish newscast a reporter and later anchor of the 9 p.m. newscast in English, and an anchor for the 10 p.m. Spanish newscast. Also, she was often requested to be a sports and weather anchor. Deportes 23 was Univision Dallas affiliate, where she was able to take on additional responsibilities. She was a reporter for all of the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason, Finals FC Dallas as well the Dallas Stars. In addition, she hosted the local Univision 23 sports program Accion Deportiva Extra on which she was anchor herself. She was hired as sports anchor by Despierta America Deportes for their morning program. She also played the job for Primer Impacto on UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo for its magazine show. Antonietta's parents hail of Veracruz Mexico. They eventually moved in Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born in November of 1985. She has a sister. In 1992, the family relocated to Miami following the move to Mexico into the US. The couple divorced shortly after and her mother got married to a naval architect known as Fabio Fajardo who passed away from kidney cancer in 2006. While on a vacation Antonietta was staying at her sister's house in Canton Ohio. Her older Collins sibling had recently gotten an offer to work. Antonietta is a senior in high school but she had a clear idea of the path she wanted to pursue. When she was deciding whether Mount Union is the right choice to her needs, Antonietta visited the campus. In the end she was enthralled with the school. The university offered her the opportunity to study a major. After completing her high school education she attended the university to study media studies. The professor she had was Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM and was student in her class, formed a lasting relationship with her. He encouraged her to have confidence and also his love for journalism deeply influenced her. She in turn, strived to fulfill his expectations and never let him down.
